2014 AFC Championship Game
New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos
Sports Authority Field, Denver, CO
Sunday 19th January, 2014

Here we are. Sunday 19th January, 2014. One week before the Pro Bowl, and one week before the biggest game of the year and one of the world’s most watched sporting events. It’s Championship Game week of course, where the winners of the AFC and NFC Championship games book their place in New Jersey at Super Bowl XLVIII. The first of the two games to be contested is the AFC Championship game where the New England Patriots (13-4) travel cross country to Denver to lock horns with a Broncos (14-3) side who go into the game 5.5 favourites. The last time these two teams met was week 12 on Nov. 24, the Patriots coming away with a 34-31 win.

Denver lead the NFL in total offence during the regular season with 457.3 of total offence, and fans will be hoping Peyton Manning can continue this form during the post season and lead the team to the Super Bowl on January 2nd. Meanwhile, with 48.0 sacks during the regular season, second in the NFC, New England will be expecting more of the same from Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich, who recorded 11.5 and 8.0 sacks respectively.

Personally, I would really like to see a Denver win. I am tired of seeing New England up there, albeit they have not appeared in the league’s showpiece since 2012 in Indianapolis. And I really like Peyton. I know that sounds simple, but that’s really all there is to it… okay, I may also love their uniforms too. As a huge Tennessee Volunteers fan, I have to root for Peyton and his Denver team. If I get my way, we will be watching the Seattle Seahawks vs Denver Broncos at 1am on the 19th.
